Funeral services for Lyle A. Hoyne, age 66, of Albert Lea, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. from First Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s Organization. Lyle died peacefully at his home.
Lyle Allen Hoyne was born on Nov. 2, 1938, in Twin Lakes, the son of Alert and Lillian (Landaas) Hoyne. He attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1956. Lyle worked on the family farm and several other jobs before serving his country in the US Army in Washington, D.C. in the Honor Guard. Lyle was united in marriage to Darlene Bonick on May 11, 1963 at the Arlington National Cemetery Chapel. The couple moved back to Albert Lea to raise their sons. Lyle drove for UPS for a short time and then for Briggs Transportation for 20 years.
After his retirement, Lyle and Darlene started their own cleaning service in Albert Lea. He enjoyed all types of sports in Minnesota, woodworking, spending time with his family and grandchildren and his many friends at Cafe Don’l. His many trips to Las Vegas with Roger Rickheim were very much enjoyed. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks. First Lutheran Church and the Local Teamsters.
Survivors include his sons: David and wife Francie of Bloomington, and Bruce and Deborah of Rogers, Minn.; grandchildren: Taimon, Talia and Lyla, and a new grandson soon to arrive; mother, Lillian Hoyne; sister, Wanda and husband JR Dorman; brother, Norman Hoyne; sisters-in-law: Joyce Bonick and Bonnie and husband Dennis Nechanicky; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lyle was preceded in death by his father; wife, Darlene; and his mother- and father-in-law.
