Vance Irvin Hill, 82, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Vance Irvin Hill will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Veterans’ Organizations.

Vance died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. He was 82 years old.

Vance was born in Albert Lea on May 19, 1922, the son of Clifford I. and Eva Thoral (Skelton) Hill. He attended Albert Lea High School and Chicago School of Photography. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45.

On Oct. 18, 1947, Vance was united in marriage with Dorothy Elaine Horvei in Chicago, Ill. They owned and operated VANDOR Aerial Photography Studio in Wisconsin for 22 years. Following retirement they moved to Arkansas and lived there from 1979-1994. They have made their home in Albert Lea since 1994.

Vance enjoyed coin collecting, musky fishing, auto racing, woodworking, watching Green Bay Packer games and golfing.

Vance is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy of Albert Lea; three children:

Larry (Suzanne) Hill of Virginia, Darwin (Mary) Hill of Seymour, Wis., and Renae (Kent) Woiak of Lake Orion, Mich.; seven grandchildren: Lance (Jennifer) Hill, Todd (Terri) Hill, Jonathan Hill, Samantha (Matt), Patrick Woiak, Riley Woiak, and Summer Hill; three great grandchildren; two brothers: Myron (Arlene) Hill of St. Paul, and Robert Hill of Leesburg, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Robert Hartmann of Plymouth, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marian Hartmann.
