Araylias B. Doc Seltun, 88, Wells

Araylias B. &uot;Doc&uot; Seltun, age 88, formerly of the Wells and Kiester area, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis. He had been a resident of the Twin Cities area the past two years.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Interment will be at Rice Lake Cemetery with military honors by the Wells Color Guard. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today, from 4 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Doc was born on May 11, 1916, in Foster Township, Faribault County, the son of Andrew and Ida (Emerson) Seltun. He lived most of his life in the Wells and Kiester areas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. On Jan. 17, 1946 he was united in marriage to Bertha E. Ehlert in Wells. He farmed for many years and also worked as the county assessor. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester, a former member of the Wells United Methodist Church. He was a member and past Commander of the Wells American Legion and VFW Posts and was active in the School Patrol program for the Wells-Easton Public School. He enjoyed old cars, old engines, water skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, and music, especially playing the accordion and organ.

He is survived by one daughter. Karen (husband Larry) Miller of Woodbury, Minn.; one son, Larry (wife Mary) Seltun of Albert Lea; five grandchildren: Chad and Jill Miller of Woodbury, Jolyn (husband Aaron) Anderson of Ft. Bragg, N.C., and Laurie and Tom Seltun of Albert Lea; one sister-in-law, Ardis Seltun of Alden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha, in 1985; and eight brothers: Orlando, Marvin, Casper, Stanley, Earl, and three in infancy.
