Charles Chuck Flowers Jr., 75, Hubbard

Charles “Chuck” Flowers Jr. age 75, of Hubbard, Minn., passed away on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Area Hospital in Park Rapids.
Charles was born Nov. 27,1929, in Nicollet County near St. Peter, Charles and Etta (McFadden) Flowers. He attended country school in LeSueur County and Kasota, Minn., through the eighth grade. In 1950, he was united in marriage to Grace Lindquist in St. Peter. This union was blessed with five children: Deborah, Michelle, Wendy, Sheryl and Terry. Chuck worked as a dairy farmer in both Cleveland, Minn., and Waseca. He also was a heavy equipment operator for Komatz Construction in St. Peter for a number of years. In the late 1970s he moved to Hubbard where be owned and operated Flowers Excavation and Septic Systems.
Chuck had a number of hobbies and interests. He had a deep love for antique John Deere Tractors and spent hours rebuilding old tractors from scratch. He drove many of his restored tractors in parades throughout the area. His other passion in life were his eight mules that he raised and trained over the years. He helped organize the Sleigh and Cutter Days in Hubbard and enjoyed giving rides in his mule drawn sleigh. He attended the Hubbard United Methodist Church in Hubbard.
He will be lovingly remembered by his four daughters: Deborah (Michael) Sturm of Farmington, Minn., Michelle (David) Dudley of Apple Valley, Wendy (Craig) Sigurdson of Neillsville, Wis., and Sheryl (Roy) Olson of Albert Lea; son, Terry (Joyce) of Rochester; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his special friend and caregiver during his illness, Priscella Johanning of Hubbard; two brothers: Howard (Lorraine) of Sauk Centre, Minn., and David (Ladonna) of Owatonna; three sisters: Pauline (Jim) Graham of Dover, Minn., Ina Mae Fischer of Kilkenny, ‘Minn., and Mary (Joe) Decker of Albert Lea; two sisters-in-law: Lucille Flowers of Eagle Lake, Minn., and Kay Flowers of Eudora, Kan.; and his brother-in-law, Phil Borgmeier
of Eagle Lake.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Francis and Richard; and his sister, Margie Borgmeier.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. today, Dec. 17, at the Hubbard United Methodist Church in Hubbard, with the Revs. Gary Walpole and Ray Clyde officiating. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, and for one hour prior to the service at the church today.
Casketbearers were Wilbur Norman, Greg Hanson, David Harder, Mark Wildes, Mike Doyle, Dave Brose, and David Ellingworth. Honorary casketbearers were Leonard Labonte and his special friend who recently passed away, LeRoy Berndt. The Hubbard Methodist Choir provided special music and Brett Sigurdson sang “See You Again.” Interment was at the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard.
