Elmer M. Kuehl, 77, Bremerton, Washington

Elmer M. Kuehl, age 77, of Bremerton, Wash., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, of respiratory failure at Harrison Hospital.

He was born on July 28, 1927, in Albert Lea to August and Anna (Paulson) Kuehl. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948 as a radar technician.

On Sept. 6, 1952, he married Alice Sturtz in Albert Lea.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1953. He worked as an electrical engineer for 12 years with the Reserve Mining Co. in Silver Bay, Minn., for three years with the Miami Copper Co. in Miami, Ariz., and for 12 years with the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, N.M. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, computers,

reading, model building, puzzles, cross stitch and needlework.

His brother, Russell Kuehl, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Jeffrey Kuehl and his wife Susan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Steve Kuehl and his wife Peggy of Seabeck, Wash.; a daughter, Barbara Garner and her husband Greg of Aiea, Hawaii; a brother, Robert Kuehl of Albert Lea; and seven grandchildren: Amy, Dana, Lindsay, Jordan and Sheree Kuehl, and John and Jason Gardner.

Viewing was at Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Wash. A memorial service followed at Rill Chapel.
