Memorial services for Leo L. Mercer, age 79, of Albert Lea, will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County
Veterans’ Organizations.

Leo died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Leo L. Mercer was born Aug. 5, 1925, to Earl G. and Adla E. (Vickers) Mercer in Ocoant, Neb.
He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945. On Aug. 14, 1947, Leo was united in marriage to Sarah Frances Lawler in Scottsbluff, Neb. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1972. Leo had been employed as a truck driver for the Bud Meyer Trucking Co. for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Chance and her family; sisters: June Mercer, Joyce Wiggin and Lola Momon; brother, Gilbert Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah; his son, Robert A. Mercer; and his brother, Blaine E. Mercer.
