Meta Louise Redman, 93, Owatonna

Meta Louise Redman, age 93, of Owatonna, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, following her death at the Owatonna Hospital.
Born in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, on Aug. 5, 1911, she was the daughter of Herman and Mathilda (Drager) Schroeder. She grew up in the Wells area and attended school in rural Faribault County. She married Donald H. Redman June 15, 1933, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wells. Meta was primarily a homemaker but after moving to New Richland in 1947 she later worked at Birdseye Canning Co. in Waseca, Land O’ Lakes in New Richland, and then at Swift & Company in Waseca candling eggs.
After moving to Owatonna she worked at OK Hardware in Owatonna, also candling eggs until her retirement.
In 1972 she and her husband moved to Geneva to live with their son Harlan on his farm.
She enjoyed working on the farm and helping her husband and son show Jersey cattle at different county fairs each year.
She also enjoyed dancing, flowers, and serving as a 4-H leader.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna and the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by three daughters: Lorraine (Ben) Ryks of Lakeville, Arlene Gerlach of Blooming Prairie, and Dorothy (Darol) Hanson of Breezy Point; four sons: Harlan Redman of Owatonna, Harold (Georgia) Redman of Faribault, Donald (Sue) Redman of Medford, and Howard (Sandy) Redman of San Diego, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arnold (Carrie) Schroeder of Wells; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; one granddaughter; one grandson;
one son-in-law, Robert Gerlach; two sisters, and one brother.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Sunday, Jan. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., and continue on Monday one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna with Rev. Victor Jortack officiating.
Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
