Ruth Mellum Nystedt, age 78, loving daughter of the late Amelia (nee Syversen) and Henry Edward Mellum of Glenville; loving mother of William (Jean), James (Patricia), and Kristin (Thomas Shallenberger) Nystedt; fond grandmother of Julie, Christopher and Rebecca Nystedt; sister of Edna (Franklin) Steele of Albert Lea, Evelyn (Claude) Gore of Glenville; sister-in-law of Wilma Kalstad (the late Elmer) Mellum of Sarona, Wisconsin; sister of the late Beulah (Paul) Hortenbach; the late Lawrence, Walter, and Lloyd Mellum; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Graduate of Albert Lea High School and River Falls (WI) State Teachers College.

Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Peterson Funeral Home in Chicago, Ill.

Services will be held at a later date at First Lutheran Church in Glenville, with internment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville.
