Charles Skip Buchanan

A memorial service for Charles &uot;Skip&uot; Buchanan will be held at Ewen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Trudgeon officiating.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the service. Skip’s family would like to invite you to stay for a luncheon after the services, generously provided by the ladies of the church.
Skip died at noon, Jan. 4, on Crooked Lake while snowmobiling with his son. He was 65 years old.
Skip was born to Eleanor Oakland Buchanan and Robert Buchanan on April 20, 1939.
He was baptized Oct. 3, 1939, at Gordonsville Methodist Church. He graduated from Northwood High School and worked at Streaters until 1967. He then moved his family to Colorado where he started his own business as a contractor.
In 1985, he relocated to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he owned and maintained Lac La Belle Resort. He considered himself a Jack-of-all-trades, but was considered by everyone a master carpenter.
Skip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with his hands, as well as being around family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Buchanan. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor
Buchanan and children Cyndi, Chris, Doug, LeAnn, Charles and Jacob.
His grandchildren include Nicole, Kirsten, Stephanie, Ryan, Cassandre, Brittanie, Colette, Alex, Nathan, Gabrielle, Hannah, Oscar and Sadie.
