Dean R. Woody Wood, 56, Minnesota Lake

Dean R. &uot;Woody&uot; Wood, age 56, of Minnesota Lake, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m.Thursday, Jan. 13, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Paul Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 12,

and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Final disposition was by cremation, which was Dean’s wish.

Dean was born on June 7, 1948, to Charles and Carrie (Vermedahl) Wood in Austin. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1966 and attended Austin Junior College. He was employed as an architectural draftsman at Northern Energy Homes in Wells.

On Nov. 13, 1971, he married Norell Schember in Albert Lea. They have lived in Minnesota Lake the past 31 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells and had served on the board of Peace United Church of Christ in Minnesota Lake. He was also an active member and treasurer of the Ducks Unlimited – Lost Marsh Chapter – for 24 years.

He is survived by his wife, Norell Wood of Minnesota Lake, two daughters:

Amy Thomas and her husband Brian of Des Moines, Iowa, and Heidi Wood-Olson and her husband Christopher of Maple Grove, Minn.; one grandchild, Eva Thomas, age 2, and one grandchild due in June; two sisters: Irene Schulz of Austin, and Iva (husband Bruce) Kruckeberg of Marshall, Minn.; two brothers: Paul (wife Avis) Wood of Austin, and John (wife Julie) Wood of Austin; his parents-in-law: Arnold and Eleanor Schember of Albert Lea; one brother-in-law, Danny (wife Valerie) Schember of Albert Lea; one aunt, Norma Vermedahl of Emmons; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Mike Schulz; 1 unborn child; one brother-in-law, Vic Schulz; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
