Leah J. Fynbo, 82, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Leah J. Fynbo, age 82, of rural Albert Lea, will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Leah died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Leah J. Fynbo was born July 25, 1922, in Graettinger, Iowa, the daughter of Johannes and Carrie (Petersen) Christiansen. She was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. On Dec. 28, 1948, Leah was united in marriage to E.W. Fynbo in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple farmed in rural Albert Lea and Leah was very active in the farming operation. Leah was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling and golf, and was a long-time member of Green Lea Golf Course. As a seamstress, Leah enjoyed making things for her family.

Survivors include her children: Randa and her husband Jerry Sullivan of Hugo, Minn., and Ric and his wife Diane Fynbo of rural Albert Lea; grandchildren: David and his wife Delya Fynbo of Albert Lea, John and his wife Sue Sullivan of Hugo, and Mike Sullivan of Hugo; step-grandchildren: Eric Fynbo of Albert Lea, and Beth Fynbo of California; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Amos Christiansen of Albert Lea, and Daniel and his wife Eva Christiansen of Austin; sister Rachel Weigel of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.W.; her sisters: Lydia Zitterick, Rebecca Bickford, and Esther Frondal; and her brothers: Joseph Christiansen and Samuel Christiansen.
