Muriel (Hagerud) (Severtson) Hawkins, of Longmont, Colo., died of complications from a hip fracture. Her daughters were with her. She chose not to have a service and was cremated in Longmont. A tree will be planted in her honor.
She is survived by her immediate family: Jean (Frank) and her husband Dave of Albert Lea, their children, Lisa and Lance; Kathryn Hall of Coon Rapids.; Roxie Severtson and Marcelino (Talamantes) of Alden, their children, Brenda of Longmont, and Marcelino III of Alden; and great-grandchildren: Chaice, Liberty, Patrick, Sigifredo and Dominic. She is also survived by a step-son, Tony Hawkins,m and several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving
brothers are: Dennis and Andrew of Texas. Surviving sisters are: Shirley Strickland of Texas, Janet (Leach) and her husband David of Arizona, Francis (Camerer) and her husband Don Camerer of Longville; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws in and out of the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Maxine (Halsted) and Orin Hagerud; brothers: Severra (Bud), Roger, Charles, Wallace and Donald; sisters: Beverly,
Dorthy and Joanne; husbands: Roger Severtson and Ward Hawkins; as well as grandson, Bradley Frank; and stepdaughter-in-law, Becky Hawkins.
Mert lived her life independently, made her own decisions throughout her life and died at home with dignity.
