Funeral services for Steven A. Van Ryswyk, age 41, of Albert Lea, will be held
11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Church of Christ Christian. The Rev. Mike Gerhardt will officiate. Interment will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Emmons. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Steve died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at his home after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
Steven Allan Van Ryswyk was born Oct. 19, 1963, to Lester L. and Dolores J. (Giles) Van Ryswyk in Albert Lea. He lived his entire life in the area and had attended Freeborn Schools. On May 31, 1986, Steve was united in marriage to Charlene Marie Moen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He was a self-employed contractor as the owner of Van Ryswyk Construction and a member of the Church of Christ Christian. Steve enjoyed hunting, demolition derbies, Nascar, remote control cars, riding his Harley, and especially spending time with his little buddy, &uot;Oscar,&uot; the family dog.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene; son, Jordon; and daughter, Ashley, all of Albert Lea; mother, Dolores Van Ryswyk of Alden; brothers and sisters: Janice and her husband Scott Schroader of Albert Lea, Doug and his wife Karen Van Ryswyk of Alden, Pam and her husband Jerry Christenson of Emmons, Paulette and her husband Arlyn Anderson of Albert Lea, Tricia and her husband Scott Kast of Freeborn, and Leslie and her husband Chris LaCanne of Ellendale; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Lester Van Ryswyk; his niece, Angie Van Ryswyk; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
