Barbara Ann Pirsig, 73, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Barbara A. Pirsig, age 73, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kip Jentoft will officiate. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth at a later date.
Barbara died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Barbara Ann Pirsig was born Jan. 8, 1932, to Theodore and Agnes (Mondahl) Thompson in Frost. She grew up in Frost and graduated from Frost High School in 1950. On June 18, 1950, Barbara was united in marriage to Wesley Pirsig in Dell, Minn. The couple moved to rural Elmore where they farmed. Barbara moved to Bancroft and then Lakota before moving to Albert Lea 20 years ago. She was a member of Our Father’s House. Barbara worked for Green Thumb and loved flowers, gardening, collecting, and cats. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, Jamaica, and California.
Survivors include her children: Judith and her husband Mark Werner of Albert Lea, James and his wife Susan Pirsig of Benson, Minn., and Kathryn Thomsen of Buffalo Center, Iowa; grandchildren: John, Sarah, Michael, Ann, Lee, Jamie, Danielle, Taylor, Eric, Kyle, Melissa, and Kevin; great-grandchildren: Bianca and Ethan; sister, Joanne and her husband Ronnie Oswald; brothers: Thomas and his wife Myrna Thompson, Neil and his wife Gloria Thompson, Arden and his wife Jeanette Thompson, Ronald and his wife Kathy Thompson, and Dennis Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Hansen; and husband, Wesley Pirsig.
