Ethel A. Weigel, 86, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Ethel A. Weigel, of Albert Lea, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Theodore Cemetery.
Mrs. Weigel died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 86 years of age.
Ethel was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Geneva, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Spurr) Hyland. She attended Albert Lea Public School. On April 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to John Weigel in Albert Lea.
Ethel was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and was a member of the CCW. She was employed by the American Gas Co. during World War II. She then raised her family and in 1966 began working at the J.C. Penney Co. Ethel enjoyed time with her family, working in her vegetable garden and canning.
Ethel is survived by her children: Thomas Weigel of Albert Lea, Teresa Weigel of Savage, Minn., Christopher and his wife Deb Weigel of Yuma, Ariz., and Patricia Weigel of Minneapolis; and grandchildren: Joshua, Daniel and Stephen Weigel of Yuma, Ariz.. Also surviving is one brother, Richard Hyland of Ankeny, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 1973; brothers: Adrian, Duane and Ed Jr.; and one sister, Merzella Fletcher.
