Gladys Fern Anderson, 90, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Gladys Fern Anderson will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Burial will be in Shady Oaks Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Gladys died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 90 years old.
Gladys was born in Harris, Iowa, on Dec. 15, 1914, the daughter of Mike and Edna (Waples) Wills. She attended school in Forest, Ill.
On Nov. 3, 1934, Gladys was united in marriage with Leslie Albert Anderson. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she had been active in women’s groups, and altar guild. She had worked as an aid at Naeve Hospital and done housekeeping for Albert Lea Bowling Alley, private residences and for 43 years at Bonnerup Funeral Service. She enjoyed knitting, baking, cooking and having coffee parties. She loved her family and liked spending time with her grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by two children: Carol Miller and her husband David of Albert Lea, and Leslie Robert “Bob” Anderson and his wife Ann of Harmony, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Roberta Sheldon and her husband Jim of Eyota, Minn., Charles Anderson and his wife Eileen of Henderson, Minn., Christine Mawby and her husband Eric of Windom, N.H., Pat Anderson of Chatfield, Paul Anderson and his wife Kelly of Winona, Michael Miller and his wife Julie of Albert Lea, and Douglas Miller of Albert Lea; seven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evonn Wilken of Fairbury, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Albert Anderson, in 1978; one sister, Odessa Wills; and three brothers: Lewis and Albert Wills, and LaMoine William “Bill” Mammen.
