Laura Marie Hugtveit, 91, Pipestone, Minn.

Laura Marie Hugtveit was born to Anton and Nettie (Wangen) Erlandson on June 24, 1913, on a farm in Freeborn County, where she was raised and received her education.
On Dec. 8, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Hugtveit in Missouri while he was in the military. Following his discharge from the military, they moved to Austin, where Laura was employed at the local gas company and was later employed as a nurses aid at the local hospital. She retired in 1972. After her retirement, she moved to Wahkon, Minn., where she helped run a resort. She was later employed in Isle, Minn., where she worked for home health care. Lawrence preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1986, and the following year she moved to Ruthton, Minn., to live near her daughter. On Sept. 11, 2001, Laura became a resident of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at the age of 91 years, seven months and 15 days.
While living in Freeborn County, Laura was a member of West Freeborn Lutheran Church. When she moved to Ruthton. she attended Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing and doing crafts and she also enjoyed reading. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lynda and her husband Earl Gruis of Ruthton; two grandchildren: Joseph Gruis and Jessica Gruis; and one sister, Inga Thompson of Freeborn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; one son, Larry Hugtveit; her parents; three brothers: Nels Erlandson, Herman Erlandson and Ray Erlandson; and four sisters: Emma Erlandson, Agnes Erlandson, Mabel Grady and Stella Hanson.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at West Freeborn.Lutheran Church in Hartland. Interment in the West Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery, Hartland. Visitation is today from 4 to7 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home, Pipestone Chapel, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday in Hartland.
