The memorial service for Lesley Lawrence De Namur will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Henriksen Will officiate, Burial will be in Ft. Snelling Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church on the day of the service. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Lesley Lawrence De Namur died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. He was 58 years old.
Born on Oct. 14, 1946, to Lawrence and Doris (Correy) De Namur in Green Bay, Wis., Les attended St. Phillip’s Catholic School and Premontre High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of
Wisconsin. Les was a loving husband and father, a distinguished veteran, a respected businessman, and an avid pilot and golfer.
Les volunteered to serve in the United States Army from 1965-1969. He was a First Lieutenant and an executive officer in the First of
Seventh Air Calvary in the Vietnam War. Les was awarded a silver star, a combat infantry badge, a purple heart and three bronze stars for his distinguished service.
Before becoming a self-employed financial consultant. Les worked for General Foods, Dakota Bake and Serve, Green Giant, Land 0’Lakes and Farmstead Foods.
Les was a proud member of the Albert Lea community for 25 years. He consistently worked to give back, donating his time as vice president and director of Greater Jobs Inc., Chairman of Agriculture Committee on the Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the advisory board for the MN South Central Technical College, member of the Elks Club, and attended Grace Lutheran Church.
A loving father and devoted family man, Les married his wife Dinah Standke Quinlivan in July 1986.
Les is survived by his wife, Dinah; and two daughters: Jordan De Namur-Paul and husband Damian Paul of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Devan Quinlivan and fianc Lucas Brua of Milwaukee, Wis. He is also survived by his mother, Doris of Green Bay, Wis.,; mother-in-law, Janette Standke of Owatonna; brother, Richard and wife,Ruth, and nephew, Ryan De Namur, of Plano, Texas; niece, Michelle and fianc Gore Mbaitoloum of
Silver Spring. Md.; brother-in-law, Ron Standke (Jody) of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Becky Haas (Gregg) of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Brenda Feyereisn of
Northfield; and many nieces and nephews in three families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence De Namur; father-in-law, Myron Standke, brothers-n-law: Daniel and Rick Standke; and grandparents and aunts and uncles.
In lieu of plants or flowers, family requests memorials to church of choice, Hollandale or St. Theodore Christian Schools, or Freeborn County Hospice.
