Earl Sevley, 72, Kiester

Earl (Bud) Sevley, age 72, of Kiester, past away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City after a courageous eight-plus-year battle with emphysema.
Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn on today, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester with the Rev. Richard Steffen officiating.
Earl Jerome Sevley, son of Peter and Evelyn (Sorbo) Sevley was born Nov. 9, 1932.
He graduated from Kiester High School in 1952. On June 28, 1964, he married Kathleen Lande at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa. Earl has lived in the Kiester area all of his life and for many years earned his living farming on the family farm. He retired from farming in 1985 and went to work at Fleetguard in Lake Mills, Iowa until retiring in 1997. Earl had a special love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathy Sevley; his daughter, Kimberly Stollard and special friend Jim Haubenschild of Blooming Prairie; sons: Scott Sevley and his special friend Lyne Roeder of Thompson, Iowa, and Jeremy Sevley of Kiester; three grandchildren: Brittany Knutson, Samantha Sevley and Trevin Stollard; and beloved sister, Bernice Holstad He is also survived by mother-in-law, Mavis Lande; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Julie and Jim Posthumus; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Peter and Evelyn Sevley; brothers: Harry and Alvin Sevley; nephews: Larry and Dennis Sevley; brother in-law, Harry Holstad; and sister-in -law, Elaine Sevley.
