Gladys Springborg, 97, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Gladys Bertha Springborg, of Albert Lea, will be held
10:30
a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.
Gladys died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 97 years old.
Gladys was born in Gordonsville on Sept. 16, 1907, the daughter of August and Katherine (Lau) Knaack. She was the youngest of 11 children and grew up east of Gordonsville and attended Gordonsville Public School. Gladys had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Myrtle, where she was confirmed in German. She was now a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Mission Circle. Gladys married Emil M. Springborg on June 1, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa.
Gladys enjoyed flowers and baking. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and was so proud to be able to live in her own home until the winter of 2003.
Survivors include sons: Roy (Barbara Ann) Springborg of Albert Lea, David (Janice) Springborg of Albert Lea, and
James (Sharon) Springborg of Rochester; eight grandchildren: Kim

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil; infant daughter, Janet; sisters and brothers: Emma Knaack, Anna Virchow, Alvina Struck, Otto Knaack, Ella Tews, Martha Behn, Emil Knaack, Linda Wahlers, Lilly Knaack and Esther Thorson.
