Funeral Service for Jeanette M. Ousman, 80, of Minneota, will be 2 p.m. Thursday,
March 31, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneota. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, all at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneota. Interment will follow the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota. Rehkamp & Horvath Funeral Directors of Minneota is handling arrangements.
Jeanette Marie Peterson was born on March 28, 1924, in Albert Lea, to Carey and Anna (Jepson) Peterson. She graduated from Emmons High School in 1941, earned her teaching certificate from Mankato State in 1943 and a Bachelor of Science degree in 1967. Jeanette and Leon Ousman were married in Emmons on June 22, 1947. Jeanette taught elementary education for 42 years in Minneota and retired in 1986. She was one of the elementary teachers recognized at the 1980 State Fair. Jeanette was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneota. She served on the Cemetery Board and as treasurer for the Ladies’ Aid. Jeanette was very active in the Tau Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Together, Jeanette and Leon enjoyed many activities of the Canby Area Shrine Club.
Jeanette died on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Avera McKennan Hospice Unit in Sioux Falls, S.D.
She is survived by her brothers: Gerald Peterson, Wendell Peterson, Wyman Peterson; sisters: Lorna Klingbeil and Sylvia Helgeland; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, in February of 2000; parents; and inlaws: Donald, Kenneth, Richard, Wally, Vi and Lorraine.
