Robert &uot;Bob&uot; J. Bergland, of Ellendale, was born on July 14, 1950, in Albert Lea, the son of John and Dorothy (Farr) Bergland.
He attended Blooming Prairie School. On May 24, 1969, he was united in marriage to Cherri Anderson.
As a young man he had various jobs including carpentry and farming.
From 1973 until 1979 he worked for his uncle Harry Farr in the excavating business.
In 1984, Bob became owner and operator of Bob Bergland Excavating.
It was a family affair,
and as Brian grew up he followed in his father’s footsteps, working side by side with his dad for many years.
Bob loved going &uot;up north&uot; and it was a favorite getaway.
He was a great outdoorsman and had a
passion for hunting, raising hunting dogs and
four wheeling. He was a member of the Midwest Houndsmen Association.
Bob died peacefully at his home on the farm on Thursday, March 10,
2005.
He leaves his family, wife Cherri, daughter Buffy and her daughter Brina, and son Brian Bergland, all of Ellendale; brother Pat Bergland of Geneva; and sisters Bonnie Bergland of Geneva and Cindy Utley of Lyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Mike Bergland.
Bob loved the serenity and quiet of the farm and took great care and pride in maintaining the &uot;Anderson&uot; family farm.
He had a big heart for those who were down and out and enjoyed using his antics to put smiles on the faces of those he loved.
Spending time with granddaughter Brina was a big day brightener for Bob; the smile on her face put the twinkle in his eyes.
At Bob’s request there will be no visitation or services scheduled. Please feel free to stop by the farm or call and share a favorite memory with the family.
