Gerald Peek, 77, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Gerald F. (Judd) Peek of Albert Lea, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at St Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. John Traufler will officiate. Friends may gather with the family Friday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m.at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Mr. Peek died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at St Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was 77 years of age.
Judd was born May 23, 1927, in Janesville, the son of Vern and Margaret (Brown) Peek. He spent his early years in the New Richland, Hartland area where he attended country school. Judd served in the U.S. Navy during World War 11 and claims to have shortened the war by a year. Judd was united in marriage to Lorraine Petrowiak on Sept. 8, 1956, in East Chain, Minn.. Together they made their home in Albert Lea where he worked as a master carpenter for Streater Inc. and later for one of Streater’s large customers, Osco Drug. While working for Osco, Judd commuted from Albert Lea to Chicago, Ill., for over ten years. In 1976 Judd founded J&B Builders with Bruce Olson and served the Albert Lea area until he retired. All who knew Judd appreciated his sense of humor and his willingness to share his point of view on almost any controversial issue.
Judd was a member of St Theodore Catholic Church, the American Legion Club, VFW, and the Elks. He was selected Legionnaire of the year in 1985. Judd loved baseball and coached for many years with the Legion Baseball Team in Albert Lea. He is also an inductee of the Freeborn County Softball Hall of Fame. Judd especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Judd is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Albert Lea; children: Mark and his wife Theresa of Seattle, Wash., Neil and his wife Ronda of Stillwater, Okla., and Kevin and his wife Patricia of Albert Lea; and nine grandchildren:Andrew, Emily, Taylor, Rachel, Natalie, Olivia, Rebekah, Ethan and Grace. Also surviving is one brother, Tom (Harriet) Peek of Montgomery; and sisters: Jean Fox of Minnetonka, Shirley (Russ) Dahnert of Waseca, and Marcella Radke of Waseca.
Judd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Walter and Earl; and sisters: Irene and Vivian.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice in Judd’s name.
