Helen Kycek, 86, Hayward

Funeral services for Helen J. Kycek, age 86, formerly of Hayward, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, at the Hayward Lutheran Church. Rev. John Malm will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Helen died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Helen Josephine Kycek was born Aug. 22, 1918, to James and Josephine (Vodraska) Caithaml in Austin. After attending rural school, she stayed on the family farm to help her parents. On Nov. 22, 1939, Helen was united in marriage to Ludvik Kycek in Austin. The couple farmed south of Hayward. After Ludvik’s death in 1955, Helen was employed at the Farmer’s State Bank in Hayward as a customer service representative. She was a member of the Hayward Lutheran Church, ZCBJ Lodge #44 in Hayward, and the SeniorCitizens. Helen enjoyed gardening, her church, the Senior Citizens, and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters: Lois and husband Rex Stotts, and Barbara and husband, Willis Pfieffer; grandchildren: Lynde and husband David Nelsen, Mark and wife Andrea Stotts, Willis L. and wife Diane Pfieffer, Brian and wife Kim Pfieffer, and Debra and husband Richard Kay; greatgrandchildren: Christopher and wife Amber Nelsen, Jennifer Nelsen, Nicole Stotts, Amber Pfieffer, Wil Pfieffer, Joseph Pfieffer, Elizabeth and Emily Pfieffer, Sheldon Pfieffer, and Desmorae Thurman; and sisters and brotherinlaw: James and Irene Benesh, Viola Luksik, and Alice Chrz.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ludvik, in 1955; and her greatgrandson, Aaron Matthew Stotts, in 1986.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brian’s Elder Care for the wonderful, loving care they have given to Helen the last four and a half years.
