Alice Akemann, 83, Wells

Alice L. Akemann, age 83, of Wells, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells.

Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Meg Sander will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

Alice was born on Feb. 27, 1922, in Albert Lea, to Frank and Veda (Campbell) Anderson. She was united in marriage to Marvin F. Akemann on June 28, 1939, at the former Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wells. Alice did seasonal work for Bird’s Eye, Wood’s Produce and Del Monte. Alice and her husband farmed in the Matawan, Waldorf and Freeborn areas. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino once in awhile, cross-stitching, gardening, flowers and her dogs.

She is survived by two sons: Earl and his wife Martha of McIntire, Iowa, and Randy and wife Mary of Emmons; three daughters: Phyllis and husband Melvin Schumaker of Kiester, Dorothy and husband Stephen Kutzler of Dodge Center, and Darlyne &uot;Dee&uot; and husband Steven Augustin of Byron; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Edna Schnoor of Wells, Rozella and her husband Jerome Engelby of Rochester, and Virginia and her husband Frank Hayes of Waverly, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents; daughter, Mary Alice; husband, Marvin, in 1984; four brothers; one sister; and one grandson preceded her in death.
