Douglas John Murphy, age 57, of Glenville, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Austin Medical Center.
Doug was born Nov. 4, 1947 in Austin to Bernard and Lela (Walsh) Murphy. On January 21, 2000 he was united in marriage to Terri Fitzpatrick.
Doug started his life in the country and after many years of fulfilling joy and laughter to many people, he returned to the country life to fulfill his dreams. He loved to work and was always keeping busy. There was never a dull moment with him. Doug was loved by all who came in contact with him.
Doug worked many years at Queens in Albert Lea and was business owner of Thoroughbred Carpets.
Survivors include his wife: Terri Murphy, Glenville; children: Jennifer Murphy, Austin, Scott (Andrea) Murphy, Walnut Grove, Mo., Tina Thorson, Chad (Jenny) Thorson and Aimee Thorson of Minnesota, and Trevor Thorson of Iowa, Ben Thorson of Minnesota, Amanda (Victor) Gonzales and A.J. Thorson of Minnesota, Allen Carey of Florida.; 19 grandchildren; siblings: Norma Keller, Jeannine (Jerry) Kellogg and Eugene Murphy, all ofAustin, and Dale (Judy) Murphy of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Elton and DeWayne; parents: Bernard and Lela Murphy.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2005, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday and also noon to 1 p.m. on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Danish Lutheran Cemetery in Myrtle.
The casket bearers will be Scott Murphy, Kenny Lawson, Jason Murphy, Allan Carey, Rich Huffman, and Chris Wisemore.
