Evelyn A. Dumke, age 89, of Wells, died on Monday, May 2, 2005, at The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells with the Rev. Paul Baker and the Rev. Meg Sander officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today, May 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at church on Thursday. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Evelyn Augusta Emilia Dumke was born Dec. 31, 1915, the daughter of George and Louise (Warnecke) Prange in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County. She was baptized on March 19, 1916, and confirmed on April 13, 1930, and married June 28, 1939, to Wilbert Dumke by the Rev. William Ganschow at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wells. Evelyn attended country school District #51, and graduated from Wells High School in 1934. She attended Teachers Normal Training
and graduated in 1935. Evelyn taught country school for five years in Freeborn, Waseca and Faribault Counties. She taught Sunday school for many years, and was an active member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. She held office in the Dorcus Mission Society, and was a member of A.L.C.W. Ladies Society in her church.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbert Dumke of Wells; and nine nieces and nephews: Kenneth and wife Janet Ayers of Albert Lea, Manville and wife Barb Ayers of Albert Lea, Clarence and wife Janice Ayers of Albert Lea,
Joyce and husband Tim Heidtman of Choctaw, Okla., Kathy Ayers of Wells,
Bob and wife Missy Prange of Wells, Lois and husband Robert Brandt of Brooklyn Park,
Mark Schultz of Janesville, and Tim and his wife Laura Schultz of Waseca.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Henry and Clarence Prange; sister, Alice Ayers; two sisters-in-law: Malinda Prange and Esmarilda Nelson; one brother-in-law, Elvoy Schultz; one niece, Marjorie Schultz; and one nephew, Harlan Schultz.
