Rebels rule

WELLS &045; As expected, the United South Central/Alden-Conger Rebels ruled the Gopher Conference boys’ track and field meet.
USC/AC won with 122 points at New Richland Tuesday. Mankato Loyola was second with 95 to edge Faribault Academies’ 92 for second. NRHEG was fourth with 72.
Coach Kent Viesselman’s Rebels had three first places, two by junior Eric Youngblom. He won the 3200 meters in 10:55.5 and cleared 5-8 for first in the pole vault. Brad Tomschin took the 800 in 2:03.4.
Matt Mueller was second in the 1600 and 3200. Amos Bessler took second in the 110 high hurdles and Spencer Niebuhr was second in the pole vault.
Other USC/AC places: Ramaker, fifth, 400; Elmer, sixth, 400; Hauge, sixth, 800; Youngblom, third, 1600; Bessler, sixth, 300 hurdles; 4×100 relay, fourth (Melby, Alex Bute, Stenzel, Jordan Alphs); 4×200 relay, fourth (Bessler, Bute, Alphs, Elmer); Brian Wood, fourth, pole vault; Jeremias Gonsalez, sixth, pole vault; Stenzel, sixth, long jump; Brad Musser, third, shot put and fourth, discus; Jesse Courrier, sixth, shot put and third, discus.
The Rebels return to New Richland Thursday for the sub-section meet.The Rebels were second in two relays, the 4×800 with Bryan Hauge, Erik Melby, Tomschin and Alex Ramaker and the 4×400 with Tomschin Ramaker, Jordan Stenzel and Jacob Elmer.
