Romeo Caron, 77, Albert Lea

The Funeral Service for Romeo Arthur Caron, of 204 Railroad Ave., Albert Lea, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea.

The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery, Albert Lea. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Romeo died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was 77.

He was born on June 20, 1927, in Faribault, the son of Eli and Dorothy (Poirier) Caron. He attended country school and then graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1947. He later attended agriculture school in Albert Lea

As a young man he farmed with his family north of Hollandale.

Romeo served our country in the U.S. Army from July of 1954 until his honorable discharge in April of 56.

After his returned from his tour of duty he married Janet &uot;Jan&uot; A. Frandle on Nov. 23, 1957, in Austin. They continued to farm north of Hollandale until 1966, when they moved to Albert Lea. From that time until his retirement Romeo was employed by Queens/Scotsman.

He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion and had volunteered to serve on the area honor guard for funerals for many years. Romeo enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by five children: Debra Caron of St. Paul and her fiance Pieter deKrom,

Christopher Caron and his wife Terri of Stanton, Iowa, Doug Caron and his wife Sharolyn of rural Albert Lea, Laura and her husband Greg Stage of Vesta, Minn., and Randy Caron; grandchildren: Riki Caron, Dalton Stage, Ky Caron, Dallas Stage, Maiah Caron, Emily Caron, Jordan Pederson, Della Stage, Anika Pederson, Roman Caron, Katelyn Caron, Denver Stage; brother, Hil Caron and his wife DeLoris of Owatonna; sister, Marian and her husband Lewis Weseman of Albert Lea; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ray Cochlin, Eileen and Don Majerus, Rich and Rochelle Frandle, Bob and Barb Frandle, Helen and Dick Roe, Tom and Rita Frandle, Jim and Doris Frandle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet, in 1987; and sister. Rosalie Cochlin.
