Memorial services for Tanya LaRae Newson, 25, of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Tanya died of leukemia on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Tanya LaRae Newson was born July 23, 1979, to Penny Blowers in Albert Lea. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church. Tanya grew up in the area living in Albert Lea and Freeborn.

She was a 1997 graduate of USC and active in basketball, golf and dance. Tanya was confirmed at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ where she was a member. On August 30, 2002, Tanya was united in marriage to D’Andre Newson in Austin. She was formerly employed at the Albert Lea Community Child Care Center.

Survivors include her husband, D’Andre of Austin; children, Jada and Jamari of Austin; mother, Penny Blowers; foster parents, Jim and Jan Beach of Freeborn; brothers, Travis Blowers, Troy Farrell and Jeffrey Cook; foster brother, Dan Gulbertson; grandmother, Waunita Blowers of Albert Lea; mother-in-law, Wanda Newson of Austin; father-in-law, Ronald Conner; grandmother-in-law, Ola Newson; uncle, Doug Blowers; aunts, Darla Blowers and Vicky Thompson; uncle-in-law, Tommy Conner; brothers-in-law, Calvin Newson and Tobey Newson and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tanya was preceded in death by her grandfather, Alvin Blowers.
