Winifred Struck, 98, Albert Lea

The memorial Service for Winifred M. Struck, of 915 Maplehill Drive, Albert Lea, is planned at 3 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Winifred died peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2005, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 98.

She was born on July 23, 1906, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Harry B. and Nancy Ann (Bishop) Glidden.

She graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis, and then completed two years of schooling at the University of Minnesota, and one year at the Minnesota School of Business.

She lived in Minneapolis and worked at Travelers Insurance for four years. On Sept. 12, 1932,

she married Wehrmann A. Struck in Mitchell, S.D.

The couple lived on a farm east of Gordonsville in Shellrock Township where she lived until July 4, 1977, when she moved to live at Senior Court in Albert Lea. She had worked in cafeteria at Glenville School for 15 years.

Winifred was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMCW. She was a volunteer at St. John’s Lutheran Home and also for RSVP, and served as a peer counselor. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and was an avid Twins baseball fan

She is survived by five children: Nancy A. Nelson of St. Paul, James A. Struck of

Holstein, Neb., William A. Struck and his wife LaDonna of Albert Lea, Mary L. O’Brien and her husband Leo of

Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Thomas Struck of

Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren;

and half sister, Harriet Blakemore of Witchita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; and her parents.
