This is one of those weekends where if you can’t find something fun to do right here in Albert Lea and Freeborn County, there’s something very wrong.
One of the busiest weekends of the year, it features Borderfest in Emmons, the Eddie Cochran Weekend and all its related events, a walk-run fund-raiser for hospice, an art center show, S.P.I.R.E.’s 35th anniversary celebration, a motorcycle ride, the annual Take A Kid Fishing Event, pancake breakfasts and a free concert in the park.
Each event in itself represents countless hours of volunteer manpower &045; people organizing the events for the enjoyment of others. They do it to benefit their communities, to showcase what those communities have to offer and to help others.
All they expect in return is that people turn out to enjoy the events. It’s a very small price to pay for things that help make what we have here all part of &uot;the good life.&uot;
This is not one of those weekends when you’ll want to go elsewhere in search of your fun. With
high gasoline prices, there’s no better time to take advantage of what’s available locally.
So dust off the classic car, or your dancing shoes, or simply prepare to look, listen and enjoy. There’s plenty fun to do right here in our own backyard this weekend.
