LETTER OF RESIGNATION
Published 12:00 am Sunday, June 12, 2005
Dear Community,
Words cannot ever begin to tell you how truly sorry I am for the attention and disruption that my personal issue has caused. This wonderful community deserves to be recognized for the many positive things that are happening here every day!
This week I announced my determination and intent to continue to serve the community as your mayor. The environment in the past several days has become very disruptive and in direct interference to the needs of this community.
While my personal challenge was successfully resolved through the court system, I cannot allow the needs of the community to be compromised.
I have, therefore, made the decision to step down from the position of mayor at this time. This appears to be the only solution that will allow our local government to move back to a state of normalcy.
As we all know, there are many significant issues facing our community at this time.
I am confident that our council will continue to address those challenges and be able to move
forward with the many exciting and positive initiatives that have been started.
It has been my honor and a privilege to serve &uot;the best city&uot; in Minnesota for the past 2 1/2 years! I want to thank the many people of this community who have shown their support and faith in me.
You have helped the community and me through your understanding and loyalty. I will miss you!
Respectfully,
Jean Eaton, mayor
