Lois Peterson, 81, Albert Lea

A memorial service for Lois J. Peterson, age 81, of Albert Lea, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Lois died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home where she had resided since 1999.
Lois Jeannette Peterson was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Waseca, to J. Clarence and Edith (Darg) Peterson. The family moved to a farm near Freeborn where Lois was raised. She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1941 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946.
Following her military service, Lois attended business school in Mason City, Iowa. She returned to Albert Lea and worked at Security Insurance Agency for 26 years. In 1974, she opened Peterson Tax Service, which she ran for several years. She gained many loyal friends and customers in the course of her working career. Lois enjoyed working and helping people. She was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law: Gladys Wagner and Shirley Peterson of Albert Lea; nephews: Paul Peterson and Terry Peterson of Albert Lea; niece, Jeanne Mills of Ellendale; and special friend, Renee Krogsgaard and family of Alden.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Russel and Stanley; and nephew, Gary Peterson.
