Martina Navarro, 80, Wells

Martina A. Navarro, age 80, of Wells, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Parkview Care Center in Wells.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 2p.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with the Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiating.
Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Tuesday, June 7, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services at church on Wednesday, with a rosary at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.
Martina &uot;Tina&uot; Navarro was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Cebu, Philippines, the daughter of Nieves (Fernandez) and Emialiano Alvarez. On Aug. 3, 1945, Martina was united in marriage to Regino Navarro in the Philippines.
Martina worked for many years and retired from Swift Echrich. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and fishing.
She enjoyed watching wrestling and was a Vikings fan. She especially enjoyed family time.
She is survived by her husband, Regino Navarro of Wells; a sister, Angela Sayson of the Philippines; and eight children: Carmen (Bob) Jewett of Woodbridge, Va., Flordelis (Restituto) Diaz, Miguel Alvarez (adopted son of Martina), Elizabeth (Carmelito) Tagalog, all of the Philippines; and Virginia Navarro, Regimar (Mary) Navarro, Mildred Navarro and Alma Navarro, all of Wells. Martina has nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Martina was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and three grandchildren.
