Mavis Farris, 82, Conger

Funeral services for Mavis C. Farris, age 82, of Conger, will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Conger. Ther Rev. Gary Hanson will officiate. Burial will be at the Conger Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mavis died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at her home.
Mavis Cecelia Farris was born on Dec. 25, 1922 in Mansfield Township, the daughter of John and Goldie (Johnson) Morgan. She attended rural school and graduated from Alden High School. On Sept. 6, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ivan Farris at Grace Lutheran Church, Alden. Mavis enjoyed being a homemaker and mother to her children; she found great joy in being a grandmother to all of her grandchildren. She worked for Land O’Lakes for just under 20 years, retiring in 1983. She enjoyed cooking, oil painting, flower gardening and canning from their garden. Mavis was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Church Circles.
Survivors include her children: Larry and wife Pat of Waterville, Richard and wife Becky of Conger, Randy and wife Kathyof Conger and Tim and wife Julie of Scarville, Iowa; grandchildren: Ron and wife Carol Farris of Albert Lea, Michelle and husband Troy Thompson of Albert Lea, Tammy and husband Jeff Holland of Forest City, Iowa, Corey and wife Crystal Farris of rural Albert Lea, Jason Farrisof Alden, Melanie Farris of Eagan, Nick and wife Haley Farris, serving in the US Army, Shane Farris of Conger and Josh Farris of Bricelyn; stepgrandchildren: Robert and Jessica Anderson; seven great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Harvey and wife Birdie Morgan of Anoka, Marvel and Alvin Farris of Ft. Pierre, S.D., LeRoy and wife Carol Morgan of Conger, Lois and Lane Bice of Alden, and Donald and wife Gladys Morgan ofRose Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan; son, Jerald Farris, grandson, Jerry Farris; brothers: Verle and Russell Morgan; and sister, Darlene Fisher.
