MINNEAPOLIS &045; The Southern Minne Magic 14-U girls’ basketball team won the Minnesota Division II AAU State Championship held May 21 and 22 at the Bloomington-Kennedy Activity Center by defeating the Minneapolis Lakers 62-59 in the semifinals, and Minnesota Summit 42-36 in the title game.

It was the girls’ first state championship.

Players on the team are Aalea Dydell (Rochester-Century), Kathyrn Gavin (Austin), Heather Greibrok (Albert Lea), Amelia Jajowka (Rochester-Mayo), Hanna Middlebrook (Austin), Abby Rothenbuehler (Mankato West), Katie Schou (Albert Lea), Alexa Shirek (Rochester-Mayo), Krista Viehauser (Austin), Tina Vorphal (Austin), and the team is coached by Brandon Schaecher.
