Betty Schuster, 74, Wells

Betty Lou Schuster, age 74, of Wells, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at her home in Wells.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with the Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Wednesday, July 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services at church on Thursday with rosary at 9:15 a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.

Betty Lou Schuster was born April 6, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of John W. and Winnifred I. (Collins) McKean. She attended grade school in Orland Park, Ill., and then moved to Minnesota and attended high school in Austin and Freeborn. She married Robert Edward Schuster at St. Casimir Catholic Church on March 30, 1948. They began farming in Wells and then decided to dabble in the trucking business where they owned and operated their own trucking line. They sold the truck line and purchased Red Carpet Lodge in Baudette, Minn., and happily and successfully enjoyed resort life.

Upon selling the resort, they moved back to Wells and began farming again. Betty was a 36-plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and active in her church circle. She was a loving, wonderful mother and very much enjoyed watching her children grow up. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing (especially quilts), reading, shopping and being Grandma to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a giving and caring woman and tried to help out whenever she could.

She is survived by four children: Tom (Betty Jo) Schuster of Baudette, Don (Robin) Schuster of Alden, Jean Ann (Mark) Nowak of Emily, Minn., and Cindy (Brett) Sindelir of Wells; 13 grandchildren: Lori (Allen) Miranda of Eden Prairie, Jason (Angie) Schuster of Baudette, Diana (Gregg) Hennum of Baudette, Trapper, Trevor and Rikki Schuster of Alden, Angi (Jeremy) Dulas of Mayer, Minn., Amanda (Jason) Risser of Baudette, Andrew (Caralee) Nowak of Bemidji, Alona Nowak of Emily,

and Devin, Ethan and Aidan Sindelir of Wells; 10 great-grandchildren: Gillian, Zachary and Allison Miranda, Jake and Carter Schuster, Garrett Hennum, Ansen and Gabrielle Dulas, and McKale and Shayla Risser; two brothers: David (Karen) McKean of Alden, and Dick (Diane) McKean of Blackduck, Minn.; One sister, Virginia Cooper of Wells; one brother-in-law,: Jim (Rose) Schuster of Baudette; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert (1997); mother, Winnifred (1995); father, John (1961); mother-in-law, Helen (2002); father-in-law, Edward (1989); brother, Johnnie (1953); and brother, Bert (2005).
