Chester Brink, 87, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Chester A. Brink, age 87, of Albert Lea, will be held
2 p.m. Monday July 18, at the First Lutheran Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in the Central Freeborn Cemetery at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Chester died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Chester Allen Brink was born Feb.16, 1918, to Morris and Nellie (Burgess) Brink in Stuart, Iowa. The family moved to the Freeborn and Steele County area where Chester grew up. In December of 1941, Chester was united in marriage to Thea Johnson. They lived in Clarks Grove before moving to a family farm near Hartland.
In addition to farming, Chester worked as a carpenter and at a potato company in Hollandale. He was well liked by everyone and a hard and industrious worker who was never fired from a job. Chester moved to Albert Lea after his wife’s death in October of 1982. He enjoyed music, dancing, hunting and fishing, and traveling.
Survivors include nieces and nephews: Violet Vasicek and Robert Houdek, both of Owatonna, Richard (Linda) Brink of Waterville, Martin (Lenore) Brink of Bella Vista, Ark., Shirley (Gary) Thun of Duluth, Harold (Sharon) Brink of Minneapolis, Phyllis (Phillip) Schlosser of Miltona, Minn., Alice (Leo) Simonson of Clarks Grove, Orien (Delores) Lee of Albert Lea, Allen Loe of Hartland, LeAnn (David) Jones of Hartland, and Orville C. Johnson of Manchester; and very special friend, Letona Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thea; sister, Leota Houdek; and brothers: George, Ernest, Carl and Merle.
