Paul Brooks, 92, Hudson, Wis.

Paul E. Brooks, of Hudson, Wis., and formerly of Albert Lea, and Cedar Falls, and Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, July 1, 2005.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Imogene, of Hudson; two daughters: Carol (Robert) Benish of Hudson, and Janine (Learl) McDonald of Sterling, Ill.; two grandsons: Chad (Wendy) Gasca, and Ryan (Jean Zartler) Gasca; great-grandchildren: Andrew and Elizabeth Gasca, all of Minnesota; his sister, Margaret Burns of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Samuel and Julia Gertrude (Barron) Brooks. He served as a medic in World War II, receiving four Bronze Stars for his service in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
Upon his return to the states he went back to work at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo. He married Imogene Minish on July 29, 1946.
He remained at Rath’s until 1966 when he moved his family to Albert Lea where he went to work for Wilson Packing Co. In 1972 he was transferred to Huntington, W. Va. Upon retirement in 1975 he moved back to Albert Lea until 1998 when he moved to Hudson. In his spare time he loved to tinker with motors and engines especially lawn movers.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gertrude; and first wife, Julia (Mc Coy) Brooks.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday July 7, in the Christian Community Home Atrium. There will be a private family burial with full military honors.
