Evelyn Hansen, 83, Excelsior

Evelyn Hansen, age 83, of Excelsior, formerly of Kenyon, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at the Excelsior Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4 at 1:30 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon with the Rev. Luther Mathsen officiating. Burial will be at the Kenyon Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hanson Funeral Home, Kenyon, and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Anna Evelyn Johnson was born Sept. 10, 1921, at Benson, Minn., to Rudolph and Ida (Hanson) Johnson. She was raised in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1939. She moved to Minneapolis where she worked and met Richard Hansen, who was attending Luther Seminary. They were married in May 1945 at Benson. The couple moved to his first parish at Mizpah, Minn., and then to Muskegon, Mich. They later served at Caledonia, at Kenyon from 1966 to 1975 and then at Albert Lea until 1989 when they retired from the ministry. Richard died July 31, 1989. Evelyn lived at Northfield and Minnetonka before moving to the nursing home. She was an active church member and pastor’s wife. She enjoyed golfing, baking, playing cards, reading, hiking and spending time at the lake with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons: Bruce of Milwaukee, Wis., and Jim and special friend Sue Quam of Minneapolis; two daughters: Susan (Jay) Fogelson of Nerstrand, Minn., and Carole (Tom) Garneau of Minnetonka, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Nicole and Sarah Hansen, Siri Heille, Jill and Lindsey Fogelson, and Hannah and Sam Garneau; three great-granddaughters: Faith and Gracia Heille and Kiara Hansen; and one sister, Verna Gomer of Glenwood, Minn.
Her parents; husband; and two brothers: Ray and Burdell, preceded her in death.
