Gladys Cunningham, 82, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Gladys Jeanette Cunningham, age 82, of Albert Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Grace Lutheran Church.

The Rev. John Henrikson will officiate.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Gladys died on Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, surrounded by her family at her home.

Cunningham was born on May

4, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Sarah (Dolen) Mostrom in Winnebago County, Iowa.

She was baptized on July 1, 1923, at North Prairie Lutheran Church by the Rev. S.J. Fretheim and confirmed on June 5, 1938, at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills.

Gladys attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1941.

On July 7, 1943, she was united in marriage to Lewis Cunningham at First Lutheran Church parsonage by the Rev. Melford Knutson.

Grace Lutheran Church was a big part of her life where she was involved with the circles and Bible study.

She enjoyed attending the Eagles Auxiliary meetings and events where she would help in the kitchen serving special dinners.

Gladys also enjoyed bowling on leagues with her many friends.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis, children; Sheryl and husband Fred Wacholz, Conger, Gary and wife Debbie Cunningham, Albert Lea, Doreen Karnowski, Albert Lea and Karen and husband Clint Woodford, Albert Lea; and grandchildren, Kari Karnowski, Ryan and wife Heather Karnowski, Bryan and wife Evie Cunningham, Sara Wacholz and Matthew Wacholz.

Her last days were filled with smiles with her great-grandchildren whom she cherished, BayLee Lathrop, Cole Karnowski, and Ava Grace Cunningham.

She is also survived by brothers, Marvill Mostrom of Vinton, Iowa and Truman and wife Meriam Mostrom of Manly, Iowa; sister, Lorraine and husband Roy Stolen of Hampton, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Liz Mostrom, Louise and husband Luman Knutson, Anita Blowers and Vernie Cunningham, all of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Jess and Eileen Cunningham; brothers, Art, Virgil, Spencer and Dale Mostrom; sister-in-law, Martha Mostrom; and grandson, Jon Wacholz.
