Helen Hagen, 94, Owatonna

Funeral services for Helen O. Hagen, 94, of Owatonna, formerly of New Richland, will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at the LeSueur River Lutheran Church in rural New Richland. The Rev. Charles Espe will officiate. Burial will be in the LeSueur River Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour prior to services at the church.
Helen died on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna.
Helen was born on March 5, 1911, in rural Emmons. Her parents were Thomas and Anna Severson. She attended grade school in Lake Mills and Parochial school in Emmons. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lime Creek
Lutheran Church of rural Emmons. When she was 10 years old she moved to Albert Lea where
she attended Central School.
Helen married Oscar C. Hagen of New Richland at the bride’s home in Albert Lea on June 25, 1930. They lived on a farm in rural Emmons and moved to a farm in Ellendale in 1938. They then retired and moved to New Richland in 1968. She moved to Owatonna in 2002. Helen was a homemaker all of her life.
She enjoyed baking, cooking and making quilts. She greatly enjoyed her family. She loved helping her grandchildren and babysitting. She enjoyed sewing, reading and playing her organ. She will be greatly missed by all.
Helen is survived by five children; LaVonne Eggers and her husband, Clarence of
Albert Lea, Alvina Koenig and her husband, Gerald of Yuma, Colo., Carlyle Hagen and his wife, Judy of Ellendale, Linda Wangen of New Richland, Tom Hagen and his wife, Barb of Wells; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Verdel Distad of Owatonna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert Hagen; a sister, Senora Severson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; six sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law and one granddaughter, Debra Koenig.
