Orville Ringstad, 85, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Orville Casper Ringstad, of Albert Lea, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at the Emmons Lutheran Church. The Rev. Julie Fiske will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Emmons, MN.
Mr. Ringstad died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at St John’s Lutheran Home. He was 85 years of age.
Orville was born April 13, 1920, in Freeborn County, the son of Carl and Mary (Flaten) Ringstad. He attended country school near Emmons, and was a Freeborn County resident all of his life.
Orville was a member of the Emmons Lutheran Church, and had been employed in farming.
Orville served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 thru 1945.
He earned the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, four overseas service bars, and his lapel button was issued in 1945.
He is survived by two sisters: Mavis and her husband Clare Knutson of Albert Lea, and Hazel Wangen of Albert Lea. Also surviving are 19 nieces and nephews.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Conrad; and two sisters: Alice Gunderson and Emma Carter.
