Basketball Boosters to meet Aug. 15

The Albert Lea Boys’ Basketball Boosters will meet Monday, Aug. 15.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the home of Dennis and Doreen Dieser at 1002 Wood Park Lane.

All parents and supporters of boys’ basketball in grades 4 through 12 are invited to attend.

Cross country practice starts Aug. 15

Anyone interested in going out for cross country in grades 7 to 12 the first practice will take place Aug. 15.

Meet at the high school wrestling room at 8 a.m.

NK booster club to host golf tourney

The Northwood-Kensett Booster Club Fundraiser will take place Aug. 12 at the Northwood Country Club.

It is a three person best shot golf tournament with a 10:03 a.m. shotgun start.

There is a $90 entry fee for the team. There will also be raffle and door prizes.

Youth football sign-up is approaching

Parents and students are invited to fifth and sixth grade tackle football registration night. It will take place Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Brookside Gym.

Registration costs $30 which is payable to District 241 and the jersey fee is also $30 payable to the Albert Lea Quarterback Club.

The total fee is $60 but two separate checks are needed.

The final registration date is Monday, Sept. 12.

Junior Volleyball Exchange to Europe

Sports For Youth Foundation Inc. is currently accepting applications from Canadian and American boys and girls aged 15 to 20 who are accomplished high school or club volleyball players and good citizens, both in their school and community, to take part in the 2006 Goodwill Ambassadors Volleyball Exchange.

The tour is open to both Canadian and American players, and 2006 marks the 26 year that the Goodwill Ambassadors have conducted world tours for junior volleyball players.

The 2006 tour will travel to London, Paris, Venice and Rome.

Registration deadline is Feb. 15, 2006.

Albert Lea girls soccer to have fundraiser

Albert Lea High School girls soccer will be having a car wash Aug 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

The girls are trying to raise money for the upcoming season so come out and support the team.

Firearm safety classes

to be held

A Firearm safety class will start Aug. 17 and run for five consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30 to

9 p.m. at the Albert Lea Moose Club. The class is open to all boys and girls 12 years of age and older. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is requested. Cost is $6. For more information call Durlin Hensch at 373-1232 or Charlie Schmidt at 874-3296.

Mohawk Archery Club hosts outdoor shoots

The Mason City Mohawk Archery Club will host a marked yardage 3-D shoot on Aug. 21 and a 3D-only shoot Sept. 18.

Cost for the adult money class is $25. Cost for the adult trophy class is $10. All youth participating will be charged $5.

Starting times are 5 a.m., with all scorecards due in by 3 p.m.
