Fire at egg production plant kills 175 hens

ST. PETER (AP) &045; A fire at an egg production plant Saturday evening killed 175 hens but the loss isn’t expected to have much impact on business, a company officials said.
Nicollet County deputies, firefighters and ambulance workers from Le Sueur arrived at the M.G. Waldbaum egg production plant near St. Peter shortly before 6 p.m. to find a hen house there fully engulfed.
Firefighters from nearby St. Peter, Arlington, Gaylord and Henderson were also called in to help get the blaze under control.
The fire was confined to the hen house, which was a total loss.
The hen house was one of several on the property that produces eggs for Crystal Farms, which distributes them to grocery stores.
