Harold Bahls, 95, Buffalo

Harold “Fritz” Henry Bahls died at Parkview Care Center in Buffalo, Minn., on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at the age of 95.
He was born on May 31, 1910. to Charles and Mary (Glawe) Bahls in Ernmetsburg, Iowa. He was united in marriage on Dec. 19, 1931, to Arlene Alice Lorenzen. Fritz was a long time resident of the Austin area until 2000 when he and Arlene moved to the Delano/Buffalo area to be closer to their children. He worked at Hormel until his retirement in 1973.
He served in the Navy during World War II, was a volunteer for the Mapleview Fire Department, a lifelong member of the American Legion and VFW, and also belonged to the Eagles and the Moose.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law; all his siblings; his daughter, Evelyn; and son, Larry.
He is survived by his wife Arlene; daughters; Connie (Mike) Sershen of Delano, Minn. and Pam (Lance) Scott of Buffalo; grandchildren: Cathy Jo (Joe Prihoda) Fitzgerald of
Prior Lake, Michele (Ray Toilers) Fitzgerald of Duluth, Shaanan (James) Sullivan of
Hanover, Minn., Mindy (Kevin) Schroeder of Delano, Danielle Sershen of Delano, Todd Sershen of
Dexter, Rod (Nikki) Sershen of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Caitlin Scott of Buffalo; great-grandchildren: Jazz and Sage Fitzgerald-Prihoda, Tayler and Chandler Toilers, Jesse and Jared Sullivan, Vatia Schroeder, and Faith and Maddy Sershen; brother-in-law, Lorenz Lorenzen; sister-in-law, Signa (Toots) Bahl; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He will be missed but be is in a better place.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept.10, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel, Austin, with The Rev. David Beckstrom officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery in Austin. American Legion Austin Post #91 and VFW Post #1216 in charge of military rites. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday for one hour before the service.
