Margaret Butenhoff, 97, of Austin

Margaret K. Butenhoff of Austin, formerly of Alden, passed away on Sept. 19, 2005, at the age of 96 years.

Margaret was born Dec. 1, 1908. She was the daughter of Thomas and Aurillian Irvine. She attended District 70 School and Graduated from Alden High School in 1927.

Margaret married Emil Butenhoff on Aug. 22, 1934, in Northwood, Iowa. She and her husband lived on the family farm and farmed until 1968.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, tatting, reading, cooking, baking and gardening. She loved her flowers (especially violets) and being with her family.

Margaret moved to Austin on July 26, 1997 and moved to St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in June of 2002.

She is survived by Larry (son), Verona Butenhoff and Raymond Bidne (son-in-law). Grandchildren are Kris Mayer (Perry) of Austin, Todd Butenhoff (Holly) of Romeoville, Ill., Beth Rutzebeck (Kelly) of Chaska, and Anne Feist (Rick) of Wells. Great Grandchildren are BriAnn and Cassidy Mayer, Tyler and Cody Butenhoff and Ashley and Hayden Feist. She also had a special niece and nephew, Janice Booze and Kenneth Irvine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil in 1981, daughter, Barbara, in 1993 and her brother, James in 1980.

There was a private family service at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin with burial following the service in the Alden Cemetery, Alden, on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
