Melvin Hochreiter, 77, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Melvin Hochreiter of St. John’s Lutheran home will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Military honors accorded by Albert Lea Veterans’ Organizations. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Melvin died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. He was 77 years old.
Melvin was born Feb. 21, 1928, at Walters, to John and Nettie Hochreiter. He attended the Sunny Brook Elementary School near Walters. He has lived most of his lifetime in Albert Lea. Melvin was a member of First Lutheran Church and was a faithful usher. He had worked for Queen Stoves and Farmstead. He served in the military from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Germany. Melvin enjoyed ushering at church, was a volunteer at St. John’s Lutheran Home, watching movies, video taping special events, enjoyed music, horses and reading about celebrities.
Melvin is survived by his sister and brothers: Delores Murray of Plymouth, Minn., Harlan Hochreiter and his wife Aileen of Milaca, Minn., Norm Hochreiter and his wife Pat of Willis, Texas, and Alan Hochreiter and his wife Vickie of Omaha, Neb.; nieces and nephews: Michael, Joni, James P. and Terri Murray, Denise Stegall, Jason and Ryan Hochreiter; and grand-nieces and -nephews: Joey, Molly and Russell Murray.
Melvin was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James D. Murray.
