No. 9 Cougars get on offensive roll against A-C

MABEL &045; Ninth-ranked Mabel-Canton piled up 440 yards of total offense against Alden-Conger in a 49-12 victory.
The Cougars were able to find their offensive rhythm early in the game and exploit it for 34 first half points.
Ryan Wach provided the Knights’ only scoring punch in the first 24 minutes retuning a kickoff 90 yards in the second quarter for a touchdown.
The Cougars’ Zane Hanson proved to be the most difficult M-C player for the Knights to handle as he scored on a 32- yard pass from quarterback Tyler Erickson, a 50-yard run and another 20-yard pass to account for his team’s first three scores.
Mabel-Canton finished the game with 367 yards on the ground while the usually strong Alden-Conger rushing attack was held to just 114 yards on the night.
Matt Bremseth led the Knights with 50 yards on 10 carries, while quarterback Alex Bute was 5 -for-15 passing for 39 yards and two interceptions. Ross Hemmingson had the Knights (1-2) other score in the game as he hauled in a 5-yard pass from Bute in the fourth quarter.
